MediaPlatform Smartpath is a software distribution overlay for live video streaming that abstracts underlying network technologies. This unique distribution layer uses a rules-based engine that defines what streaming format, bit-rate, and transport protocol will be used to optimize video delivery to each network site so that existing infrastructure and network configurations can be leveraged whenever possible, while also defining how failover and redundancy are to be managed.
MediaPlatform's network-agnostic live and on-demand streaming approach allows you to use multicast, unicast and peering solutions from Hive, Kollective, Peer5 and Ramp as part of your MediaPlatform enterprise video solution. MediaPlatform recognizes the video players from these providers and routes the stream to their respective clouds and includes them in failover and redundancy rules as one of the distribution profiles within Smartpath. Live webcast analytics for buffering, load time, failover and success rates are also collected in MediaPlatform VBI for peering viewers.
